Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state initial examinations indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important representative stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
